Showmars opens new Iredell store
For more than 25 years, Charlotte-based Showmars has steadily expanded its casual dining franchise throughout the region, including locations in Huntersville and Denver. Now, the restaurant known for its mix of American favorites and traditional Greek cuisine will bring its signature menu to Mooresville, its first location in Iredell County and the 28th in the chain’s history.

In a fitting salute to the work involved, the 2011 Amazing Maize Maze at Historical Rural Hill in Huntersville will open Labor Day weekend.
Give some blood, run some laps
Charlotte Motor Speedway and the American Red Cross will host “Laps for Life,” a blood drive event on Sunday, Sept. 11, in the speedway infield from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Donors who are pre-registered will receive a pair of Dollar General 300 Miles of Courage race ticket vouchers. All presenting donors will receive a pair of Bojangles’ Pole Night tickets and will be able to drive their car on the 1.5-mile super speedway for three laps.
Wine Spectacular tickets available
Since the Rotary Club of Lake Norman-Huntersville began holding its annual Wine Spectacular 13 years ago, it has contributed more than $150,000 to local charities from proceeds from the event including the Lake Norman Free clinic, Hope House of Huntersville, the USO and Rotary International’s End Polio Now campaign.
