Haley Silvadean Overcash Brannon

Mrs. Brannon, 84, of Davidson, died peacefully Sunday, Nov. 13, at Serenity House in Mooresville, N. C. She was born Dec. 20, 1926, in Davidson to the late William Overcash and Cecile Overcash. She graduated from Davidson High School where she was captain of the basketball team. She was among the early females to attend Davidson College in 1944, where she was a cheerleader. She became a charter member of the Davidson Garden Club in 1957, where she was past president and active for 46 years. She was a member of Davidson United Methodist Church since 1949 and received the Honorary Life Membership pin in 1991.

She is survived by her husband of 64 years, William; daughter, Donna Patterson and husband, Larry, of Davidson; son Jim and wife, Lucy, of Huntersville; brothers Ray Overcash and wife, Margaret, of New London, and Bobby Overcash and wife, Pearl, of Concord; and two grandchildren. She was preceded in death by brother, Charlie Overcash. The family extend their heartfelt thanks to Dr. William Flannery, doctors and nurses at Presbyterian Hospital Huntersville, Lake Norman Hospice and Serenity House for their kind and compassionate care.

A memorial service was held Saturday, Nov. 19, at Davidson United Methodist Church with the Rev. Jody Seymour and the Rev. Berta Spencer officiating. Memorials may be made to the Serenity House, 110 Centre Church Road, Mooresville, NC 28117; or to the charity of the donor's choice. Samuel S. James Funeral Service of Huntersville is serving the family.

Mary Parks Gabriel Knox

Mrs. Knox, 87, of Davidson died Saturday, Nov. 19, at Carolinas Medical Center. She was born Feb. 12, 1924, in Iredell County to the late William and Winnie Gabriel.

She is survived by her brother. Bill Gabriel and wife, Carolyn, of Elon; son Ralph and wife, Sheila, of Mooresville; daughter, Jean Manley and husband, Paul, of Mooresville; and one grandchild. She is proceeded in death by her husband Ralph.

A graveside service was held Wednesday, Nov. 23, at Bethel Presbyterian Church Cemetery in Cornelius with the Rev. Lewis Smith officiating. Memorials may be made to the Iredell County Humane Society, P.O. Box 1617, Statesville, NC 28687; or the charity of the donor's choice. Samuel S. James, Funeral Service of Huntersville is serving the family.
