Demetri Allison was once again the catalyst for the Eagles. He caught touchdown passes of 18, 7 and 10 yards from Randy Schroeder and finished with eight catches for 151 yards. For the season, Allison now has 28 catches, 620 yards and 11 scores. He also leads the team with five interceptions.
Schroeder was 15-of-25 passing for 194 yards and now has 15 touchdown passes. Adam Gilkerson provided 87 rushing yards and added the Eagles’ other score on a 5-yard run. LNC loses a close one
The margin of defeat was slim for Lake Norman Charter’s football team last Friday at Bessemer City, and it was the little things that loomed large in the 21-18 loss.
The Knights and Yellow Jackets each scored three touchdowns, but LNC failed on all of its pointafter- touchdown attempts.
“We’re still making too many mistakes,” said LNC coach Bob McKay. “That’s what’s costing us.” Still, the Knights nearly pulled out the win. With less than a minute left, LNC got the ball on its own 5-yard line, drove to the Bessemer City 40 and set up a play for the final six seconds. Quarterback Michael Dorsainvil threw for Alex Scearce in the end zone, but the pass fell incomplete as time expired.
“For a second there, it looked like he had it,” said McKay. Dorsanvil scored in the first quarter on a 15-yard run. Scearce ran a 53-yard touchdown in the second quarter and was on the receiving end of a 31-yard scoring pass from Dorsainvil in the fourth. LNC (3-3 overall, 0-3 Southern Piedmont) hosts 2A SPC foe North Lincoln Friday at 7:30 p.m.
