That’s just what Davidson Day proved last Friday in a 55-42 victory at Hargrave Military Academy, a win that moved the Patriots’ record to 7-0.
Davidson Day quarterback Will Grier did a little of everything in the win. He completed 24-of-42 passes for 359 yards, threw four touchdown passes and ran the ball 12 times for 63 yards and two scores. He also ran for two two-point conversions, punted once for 45 yards and converted an extra point kick.
Aaron Seward was on the receiving end of two Grier touchdown passes, finishing the night with nine catches for 134 yards. Mike Stevens and Jordan Young also caught touchdown passes. Patriot Jordan Brown led the rushing attack with 135 yards and two scores.
After trailing 7-6 in the first quarter, Davidson Day reeled off 30 straight points to lead 36-7 at the intermission.
The Patriots continue their work away from home this week, playing at North Lenoir High in the eastern part of the state.
