New Hanover’s Sammy Kohl and Alex Gaines defeated the Titans 6-2, 6-2 last Friday at Millbrook Exchange Park in Raleigh. The loss ended the season for Armato and Roberts, who were  22-4 in doubles matches this year. 

As of Wednesday, though, the Titan team had more tennis to play. Hopewell’s third-round dual team playoff match with Ardrey Kell was postponed from Tuesday until Wednesday, after press time. The Titans (18-3) were in the state’s round of eight (incorrectly reported last week as the round of 16) for the first time in school history.
