Lamontagne scores winning run in PONY national title win

Hough High pitcher Jasmine Lamontagne scored the winning run in the 16U PONY Girls Softball National Tournament final last week in Cary.

Playing for the N.C. Challengers, Lamontagne drew a walk with the scored tied 4-4 in the seventh inning against the Long Island, N.Y., Bandits. She moved to second on a sacrifice bunt, then scored when Raleigh’s Lindsey Hilts hit a single up the middle, giving the Challengers the 5-4 win.

Thirty-six teams from the East Coast and Canada participated in the tournament.
