“I’m excited about the opportunity,” said Bradley. “I think it will be fun to work with those kids.”
Bradley was selected as an assistant coach, along with four others, for the West team’s coaching staffled by Asheville C.A. Erwin High’s Mike Sexton. Phil Weaver, of the North Carolina Coaches Association, which hosts the state’s annual all-star events, called Bradley recently to gauge his interest joining the coaching staff.
“I told him I’d be honored,” said Bradley. “It’s a tribute to the kids I’ve been able to work with over the years.”
Bradley is entering his 32nd year teaching and coaching and his third year as the head coach at North Meck. He could have retired three years ago, but still has a passion for coaching football and teaching history.
“I enjoy going to work every day,” he said.
Bradley’s friend, former Hopewell coach Chris Rust, was an assistant coach in the 2010 East-West game.
