With each make, they are helping children on the other side of the world through “Shooting for Shoes.”
Former Davidson College players Logan Kosmalski and Brendan Winters are in their third year conducting the instructional camps and this year partnered with former Wildcat Andrew Lovedale to raise money for Lovedale’s Access To Success Foundation.
Access To Success, or A2S, was founded in 2010 to provide athletic shoes and equipment to underprivileged youth in Lovedale’s native Nigeria, and Pro Skills Basketball is donating 25 cents for every foul shot made in its four camps. The first camp of the summer raised nearly $100.
Lovedale, a member of Davidson’s 2008 Elite Eight team, also began the Kicks For Cats fundraiser while at Davidson, and has sent thousands of pairs of shoes to Nigeria. He and a group of volunteers just returned from an A2S trip to his homeland, a place he is inspired to assist.
“I believe three things brought me this far: athletics, education and my faith in God,” says Lovedale. “It’s kept me grounded.”
The second Pro Skills camp was held this week. Pro Skills will host a girls camp July 18-22 and a boys camp July 25-29. Both camps, for players ages 9-15, are at Woodlawn School. For more information, visit www.proskillsbasketball.com or http://a2sfoundation.org.
