Wildcats to host Morehead State
The Davidson College football team is 0-6 in Pioneer Football League play, after last week's 17-7 loss at Butler, and 2-7 overall. But the Wildcats are not alone in their PFL struggles and will face Morehead State and Valparaiso, a combined 1-11 in league play, at home the next two weeks, beginning with Saturday's 1 p.m. game against Morehead State, 1-5 in conference, 2-7 overall.
The Wildcats totaled 379 yards of offense and 26 first downs, but turned the ball over four times.
"You can have 700 yards of offense, but if you don't score points, it doesn't matter," said Davidson coach Tripp Merritt.
Chris Gorman rushed for 112 yards for Davidson, while Jonathan Carkhuff threw for 304 yards and Lanny Funsten made 13 catches for 102 yards.

Strikers gets new turf
Strikers Soccer Center in Huntersville is replacing its artificial turf fields this month after 11 years of use, said Strikers owners Ian and Andrew Steedman.
The new playing surface will be completed in time for the beginning of winter league games, which begin after Thanksgiving.
Located adjacent to North Meck High School, Strikers focuses on developing players by playing games on small fields, where players get more touches.
