The 25-11, 25-13, 25-15 win over the Titans was North’s sixth win in its last seven matches, and the Vikings were 11-3 entering Thursday’s match against I-Meck leader Lake Norman. That includes a 5-2 record in the I-Meck, good enough for third behind Lake Norman and Hough.
Johnson said her team’s confidence has grown by leaps and bounds this season.
“They’re just growing so much as players and gaining skills,” she said.
Johnson has been especially impressed with the emergence of freshman libero Cayla Stauffer.
“She is just shining, really,” said Johnson. “Her skills are incredible.”
Madie Greer had team-highs of 14 kills and nine digs against the Titans. Jennifer Hart led the team with 20 assists and seven aces.
Hopewell fell to 3-9 overall and 3-4 in the I-Meck. The Titans were coming off back-to-back wins over Mallard Creek and Vance.
