DDS, LNC soccer teams ranked

The soccer teams from Lake Norman Charter and Davidson Day are ranked in their respective coaches’ polls.

The LNC Knights are ranked fifth among N.C. 1A public schools, while DDS is seventh among 2A private schools. The ranking is a program first for the Patriots.

LNC improved to 12-2-2 Monday with a 2-0 win over Cherryville. Frank Silva and Phillip Wessler scored goals, while Christian Hall and Silva combined for the shutout in goal. The Knights also beat Lincolnton this week behind goals from Tommy Mikuleza and Dallas Reed and a shutout from Hall. The Knights were 7-1 in the Southern Piedmont Conference entering Wednesday’s home match with East Lincoln.

DDS (11-2-2) won three games by 6-0 scores this past week. Erik Robinson scored four goals, while C.J. Bradley and Jackson Goyette added three each. Taylor Cox and Tate Wyrick scored two apiece, and keeper Austin McCarty was key to getting the shutouts.

The Patriots are 9-2-1 in the Southern Piedmont Athletic Association.
