Wheelchair basketball finals are Saturday

The largest wheelchair basketball event prior to the 2012 Paralympic Games in London is taking place in the Lake Norman area this week.

The International Tournament of Champions, hosted by the National Wheelchair Basketball Association, began locally Wednesday morning and will conclude this weekend. The women’s final is set for 11 a.m. Saturday at Lake Norman Charter, while the men’s championship will take place at 3 p.m. at LNC. For more information, visit www.nwba.org.

Hough’s Tabor cheered at East-West Hough High’s Krissi Tabor was the lone local selection to cheer in the East-West All-Star games in Greensboro last month. A rising senior at Hough, Tabor was selected to the all-state team by the North Carolina Cheerleading Coaches Association, which chose 28 cheerleaders from a group of 175 nominees. The all-state cheerleaders performed at the East-West football and basketball games.
