"They're wrestling hard, and at the end of the day, that's all I can ask," said Rogers. "Most of them are getting better every time they step on the mat. As long as we keep doing that, we'll be tough to deal with at the end."
Hough improved to 8-0 in dual competition with a 63-13 win at Hopewell Tuesday and moved to 2-0 against I-Meck Conference opponents.
With just eight wrestlers on its roster, Hopewell forfeited in seven weight classes Tuesday, and Hough won four of the seven remaining matches.
Hough's Adam Nivens pinned Austin Householder in 5:03 at 126 pounds, and Husky Jacob Efird pinned Dajon Lacey in 1:33 at 145. Hough's Hayden Smith, at 170, pinned Gore Vaughn in 3:29, and Connor Brooks edged Hopewell's Jason Sparrow 1-0 in the 285-pound match.
Hopewell's Austin Randall defeated Grant Finkbeiner by major decision (13-1) at 113 pounds. Titan Wesley Petrick beat Steven Owens 12-11 in an overtime match at 120, and Deshjion Whitlock pinned Hough's Jake Cheeks in 6:27 in the 182-pound match.
Titans coach Everett Wine said his wrestlers continue to improve and compete.
"I think we're learning and growing together, which is good," he said. "We need to keep working on our performance each time out and work on our progressions."
Hough's Martin Markee (106 pounds), Tanner Russ (132), Ed Stokes (138), Austin Newell (152), Palmer Maples (160), Christian York (195) and James McWilliams (220) earned forfeit victories.
Nivens, Russ and Maples each won their respective weight class titles in Hough's individual tournament win last weekend at North Gaston.
