Lady Knights second at SouthLake
The Lake Norman Charter girls' basketball team placed second in SouthLake Christian's 9th Annual Winter Classic last week, falling to Village Christian 57-45 in the final.
LNC's Jamie Williams and Alex Busch were named to the all-tournament girls' team, along with SouthLake's Bri Mack and Kourtney Hailey.
In the boys' tournament, LNC's Hayden Goins and SouthLake's Ralph McCollum earned all-tournament honors.
Huskies 20th at North Davidson
Hough High's wrestling team totaled 58.5 points and finished 20th among 35 teams last weekend at North Davidson High's King of the Mat Invitational.
The Huskies were led by the fifth-place finish of 160-pounder Palmer Maples, who went 5-2 in the event. Hough's Jacob Efird was 4-3 at 145 pounds and placed sixth. Tanner Russ was 3-3 at 132 pounds and took eighth for Hough. Russ leads Hough this season with 21 wins.
Edmondson wins golf tournament
Davidson resident Noah Edmondson made a 35-foot birdie putt on the final hole at River Bend YMCA Golf Club in Shelby last week to win the 35th Annual Phil Wallace Holiday Classic Junior Golf Tournament (ages 14-15) by one shot. He finished with a 3-under round of 69.
Edmondson is a freshman at Cannon School and recently took second place in the 22nd Annual Carolinas PGA Charles Tilghman Junior in Myrtle Beach.
