Eagle netters are 24-0

Written by

SouthLake Christian’s pursuit of a second straight volleyball state title has put the Eagles in position to make similar postseason noise this fall.

The Eagles (24-0) were to meet Covenant Day in the Metrolina Athletic Conference tournament final Thursday at Gaston Christian. A state playoff seeding meeting will be held over the weekend, but SouthLake should host a first-round game Tuesday in the N.C. Independent Schools Athletic Association’s 3A bracket.

Katie Schoenrock leads SouthLake with 400 kills and 89 service aces. Kayla Summer has added 234 kills and 228 digs. Olivia Loeffler is the team leader in digs with 247 and has 81 aces. Lucy Iannarino (395) and Dakoda Hawkins (319) have combined to lead the Eagles in assists, and Kelsey Bundy has a team-best 16 blocks.
