Bennett, who played her first two seasons at North Meck, will have a tie to all three north Mecklenburg 4A schools when she gets to Queens. She will play for former Hopewell High standout catcher Miranda Ervin. Ervin was on Hopewell’s 4A state title teams in 2002 and 2003 and will be in her second season this spring as Queens’ head coach.

Hough High senior Gaylin Bennett is the school’s first softball player to commit to play college softball. Bennett will play at Queens University in Charlotte. She will sign her national letter of intent next month.
