Boat rental firms join forces

Written by

The merger of two local boat rental operations has resulted in the largest boat club on Lake Norman.

Carefree Boat Club of Lake Norman announced has acquired Queen City Boat Club, expanding its fleet of rental boats for members to six, including two pontoon boats and four Sea Rays ranging in size from 21 to 26 feet.

“We’re very excited about combining these two successful clubs to continue serving the boating needs of the Lake Norman community and surrounding areas,” says Marc Graveline, President of Carefree Boat Club of Lake Norman. “We welcome our new members joining us from Queen City Boat Club and are looking forward to providing our existing members with an even better boating experience.”

Queen City Boat Club was the first to bring the membership-based boat rental concept to Lake Norman, setting up shop in 2008. Carefree Boat Club of Lake Norman launched in May 2010 with a three-boat fleet, expanding to five boats by the following summer. It is located at WaterStreet Seaport in Cornelius.

“Combining the strengths of both clubs, Carefree Boat Club of Lake Norman is now not only the largest boat club on the lake, but also the longest established,” Graveline says.

Membership includes the use of boats at other Carefree Boat Club locations in Florida, Maryland, South Carolina, Texas and Virginia. For more information, visit www.carefreeboats.com or call John Gillette at 704-497-0778.
