Patricia Ann Blaker
Mrs. Blaker, 73, of Huntersville died Wednesday, Jan. 2, at her home. She was born Nov. 10, 1939, in Phillips, Wis., to the late Peter and Elsie Kuchera Pisca. She was an active member of the senior group, Bible study and WELCA group at Community in Christ Lutheran Church in Cornelius, where she also worked with children in the early reading program. She also worked for the State of North Carolina Election Committee.
Winton Ray Poole
Mr. Poole, 85. of Charlotte, formerly of Cornelius, died Wednesday, Jan. 9, at the Harris Hospice Unit at Presbyterian Hospital after a brief illness. He was born March 14, 1927, in Durham to the late Willie and Annie Poole. A career banker, he was senior vice president of marketing for North Carolina National Bank, now Bank of America.
After retiring from a 40-year career in banking, he became a civic leader in Cornelius. He served two terms on the Cornelius Town Board of Commissioners, and was interim mayor, serving the remainder of the unexpired term of Wes Southern in 1999. He was a member of the board of directors of ElectriCities and Our Towns Habitat for Humanity. Because of his involvement and his leadership to move Habitat from infill lots to entire small neighborhoods, Poole Place in Cornelius, a Habitat neighborhood, is named in his honor. He was also an avid sailor and tennis player.
He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Janet; daughters, Jan Stanley and her husband, Steve, of Aho and Jill McDevitt and husband, Richard of Davidson; sisters, Ellen Bridges of Ormond Beach, Fla., Hilda Holtzclaw of Morristown, Tenn., and Doris Jones of Durham; and four grandchildren.
A funeral service will be held Monday, Jan. 14, at 2 p.m. at Providence Methodist Church, 2810 Providence Road, in Charlotte. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, contributions be made to Crossnore Schools Inc., P.O. Box 249, 100 Dar Drive, Crossnore, NC 28616; Our Towns Habitat for Humanity, P.O. Box 1088, Davidson, NC 28036; or Harris Hospice Care, P.O. Box 33549, Charlotte, NC 28233-3549.

Mr. Morris died Thursday, Dec. 20, at his home surrounded by his family after an extended illness. He was born in Charlotte to Joe and Laura Morris. He was owner of Ashe Kickers Chimney Service and Lake Norman Hardware.

James George Hetherington Jr.
Mr. Hetherington, 68, of Charlotte died Monday, Dec. 10, after a battle with cancer. He was born March 29, 1944, in Boston, Mass., to the late James and Barbara Allen Hetherington. He was on the board of the Southern Textile Association and the board of North Carolina Textile Association. He served and fought in Vietnam and was a recipient of the Purple Heart and also earned the Army Commendation Medal, Vietnam Service Medal and the Bronze Star. He was an avid sailor and past commodore at The Peninsula Yacht Club, spending much of his free time on Lake Norman. He considered his boat his second home.
