Senior Center plans open house

Written by  Staff

HUNTERSVILLE, N.C. -- North Mecklenburg Senior Center will hold its annual open house Friday, May 10, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. There will be a wide range of activities, plus free food available for participants and visitors.

"The purpose of our annual open house is to highlight all the programs, activities and services that are available at the senior center all year 'round," says Senior Center Director Joanne Ahern. "I hope all of our participants, as well as our North Mecklenburg neighbors 55 and older will attend and see what we have to offer."

Displays highlighting the center's activities will be shown, along with registration information. There is no membership fee at the Senior Center and many of the programs are free. Participants have the option of purchasing an annual discount card for $52, which helps support the center and provides discounted fees for some activities.

The May 10 open house includes dance contests and door prizes as DJ Bob Lazar plays the music of the 1950s and '60s, snacks beginning at 11 a.m. and complimentary lunch beginning at 12:30 p.m.; games including corn hole, croquet, target throw, badminton, and bean bag toss; and bingo starting at 2 p.m.

The North Mecklenburg Senior Center is at 16601 Old Statesville Road, Huntersville, at the location of the Solid Rock Church and is open Monday-Friday from 8:30 am to 4:30 p.m. For more information, call 704-875-1270 or visit HYPERLINK "http://www.cmseniorcenters.org" www.cmseniorcenters.org.
