The festival, which will serve as a fund-raising benefit for the center, will include craft vendors, food, a bake sale, music and more. Registration held for senior softball
Huntersville Park and Recreation and Cornelius PARC will offer the Ralph Lambert senior adult softball league. Registration continues through July 27 for men and women ages 50 and older. There will be two divisions of play for competitive and recreational teams. Games will be played on Wednesday nights and the season will consist of a 10 game regular season with an end-of-the-season tournament.
Skills day and player meeting will be held Saturday, July 28, at noon at North Mecklenburg Park in Huntersville. Cost is $30 for Huntersville and Cornelius residents, $45 for all others. Go to the beach at Bailey Road Park
The 2012 Cornelius PARC Concerts in the Park Series presented by MI-Connection continues Saturday, July 28, with "Beach Bash in the Park" featuring Big Time Party Band. The concert will be held at the Bailey Road Park bandshell, 11536 Bailey Road.
Concessions are provided by Bruster's Ice Cream/Nathan's Hot Dogs and Heart2Heart Bakery & Cafe. Children's activities are available and parking and admission are free. Coolers are permitted but no alcohol, smoking, pets, glass containers or open flames. Gates open at 7 p.m. The final concert in this summer's series is "Country Night in the Park" featuring the Chris Lane Band on Saturday, Aug. 18. Watch 'Tintin' under the stars
The next opportunity to catch a movie under the stars is Saturday, July 21, when the Cornelius PARC Department will screen The Adventures of Tintin on the giant inflatable screen at Smithville Park. Weather permitting, all movies in this summer's series begin at dusk (approximately 8:30 p.m.). Admission is free and refreshments are available for purchase. Movie dates, times and locations are subject to change. Some movies are edited for general content. Bring your lawn chairs and blankets.
