The Cornelius Veterans Monument is nearly half complete, but the estimated number of veterans’ names has doubled to more than 1,100, which requires an expansion of the monument and a $20,000 increase in projected cost, now about $190,000. The monument, located next to Cornelius Town Hall on N.C. 115, is at 91 percent of being fully funded, but the Town of Cornelius is seeking additional donations to help fund the monument.
