ElectriCities employees were recognized recently at a luncheon celebrating more than 250,000 hours of work without a lost-time injury. Representatives of the combined municipal electric service management company that serves the towns of Cornelius and Huntersville were saluted by mayors Jeff Tarte of Cornelius and Jill Swain of Huntersville, and other town representatives, for “keeping the lights on” and achieving the safety milestone. Craig Norfolk, general manager of ElectriCities, said the record represents 12 years without a lost-time injury for the department. He also said ElectriCities recently sent crews to help with Hurricane Irene recovery efforts and that all workers had returned home safely.
