On Friday, Oct. 7 at People’s Bank in Cornelius, 9624 Bailey Road, hot dog dinners will be sold to benefit the local Habitat organization while boosting the “Big Cheese” chances of People’s Bank’s own Mary MacDonald.
From 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the bank, MacDonald and Davidson Mayor John Woods will serve as hosts of the event where hot dog dinners will be sold for $5 with the proceeds boosting MacDonald’s efforts to raise at least $1,000 for Habitat as one the organization’s competing “Rat Pack” fundraisers.
In addition to Woods, the mayors of Cornelius and Huntersville are also expected to take part in Friday’s friendly gathering.
After Friday, the next “Big Cheese” event to benefit Habitat will be an “Antiques off the Road Show” on Friday, Oct. 14 ,at 19407 Meta Road in Cornelius. Gerald Worrell of Northwestern Mutual Financial will be the sponsor/benefactor of the event, which will begin at 6 p.m.
Fourteen area residents, representing local businesses, are “Rat Pack” competitors working to generate contributions to benefit the region’s Habitat program.
The fundraising drive will culminate with the crowning of the region’s “Big Cheese” at a the Cheese Ball Friday, Oct. 21 from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. at the Lake Norman Cottage.
