Chamber honors safety officers

The Lake Norman Chamber of Commerce will host the sixth annual salute to North Mecklenburg Public Safety officers and volunteers at a luncheon Thursday, Oct. 20, at the Havana Banquet and Ballroom at Kenton Place in Cornelius. The event presented by Wells Fargo Bank is sponsored by Central Piedmont Community College — Merancas Campus, The Lake Norman Herald Weekly and CrimeStoppers. An officer from the Cornelius, Davidson, Huntersville and Davidson College Police Departments will be honored, as well as members of the North Meck Rescue Squad, the local fire departments, and Crime Stoppers.

The guest speaker will be Lili Johnson, associate dean of the Merancas Campus of Central Piedmont Community College, speaking on “CPCC and First Responders: A Critical Equation for Public Safety.”

Registration costs $16 for Chamber of Commerce members and $18 for all others. Members of the public are invited to the event, and can reserve a seat by calling the Chamber at 704-892-1922.
