Stein, who began duties as principal at LNC high school last year, has been an educator for 17
years and has spent the last 11 years as a high school administrator. She fills the position vacated by Tim Riemer, who stepped down as LNC’s managing director at the start of this school year.
Stein holds a bachelor’s degree from the University of Wisconsin and a master’s in educational administration from Edgewood College. She holds certifications as a director of special education/pupil services and director of curriculum and instruction and recently completed work for a district administrator (superintendent) degree from Cardinal Stritch University.
Her most recent duties as LNC’s high school principal included responsibility for teacher
supervision, day-to-day operations, curriculum management, staff professional development and strategic planning.
Hyatt, with more than 30 years of experience in North Carolina public schools, returns for
another stint as interim principal at LNC’s high school. He also filled the post before Stein was
hired. Currently a member of the Mooresville Graded School District Board of Education and a
long-time administrator in the Mooresville system, Hyatt has served in various school capacities including high school principal, finance officer, elementary school principal, testing coordinator and assistant superintendent for support services.
Hyatt holds bachelor’s and master’s degrees from Appalachian State University and completed studies for an advanced principal/superintendent degree from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro.
Tricia Sisson, chairperson of the LNC Board of Directors, says Stein and Hyatt are expected to
complete the school year in the interim posts. She says the LNC search committee is finalizing
job description materials for the managing director position and expects to begin advertising the job and evaluating candidates in early 2012.
LNC, with middle school and high school campuses on Old Statesville Road, is a public school
serving 1,450 students in grades 5-12.
