Help fill The Bin with volunteers

Written by

The Bin, a fully volunteer-operated nonprofit organization that provides gently used working household items to needy families referred by local agencies, is looking for leaders and volunteers to assist the organization in reaching its goals. Some positions available include community outreach coordinator, volunteer coordinator, fundraising and event coordinator and marketing coordinator. Bilingual volunteers are also needed.

“Those out of work or looking to give back to the community will find great reward in volunteering for The Bin,” says Alisa Grasso, president and chairman of the board of The Bin.

Clients “shop” The Bin’s selection with dignity and grace with assistance from volunteers. The organization recently received its 501c3 status and is in need of local talent and donations.

Needed donations include furniture, appliances, beds, linens, kitchen and bath items, decorative items, and all other household essentials, including toys. Operating hours are Tuesdays and Saturdays 9 a.m.-1 p.m., and Thursdays, 6-9 p.m. Items may be dropped off at The Bin, 119 North Old Statesville Road in Huntersville and pick-up service is available for large items.
