Talkers are still chuckling at Davidson Commissioner Connie Wessner’s choice of souvenirs for her Town Board colleagues this week.
Wessner, an administrator at the Community School of Davidson, accompanied a group of 17 students recently on a trip to China. When commissioners took their seats at the dais for this past Tuesday’s Town Board meeting, a green Chinese Army cap, adorned with the trademark red star, awaited each of them, courtesy of comrade Wessner.
In a town sometimes slammed for what critics label as socialist sensibilities, Talkers note, Wessner’s choice of headgear was either a brilliantly satirical shot at naysayers or an oddly off target attempt at gift-giving.
Either way, Talkers tip their caps.
