Brooks ‘Calvacade of Curiosities’ at Fleet Feet

Written by

Running shoe company Brooks will bring its Run Happy Cavalcade of Curiosities to Fleet Feet Sports in Birkdale Village on Friday, Aug. 19, from noon to 5 p.m.

Designed to mimic the traveling medicine shows of old, the cavalcade rolls from town to town in a colorfully painted, authentic double-decker bus from London. The Arcade of Oddities “museum” will display running wonders such as the world’s biggest shoe, the legendary Bunion Boy’s malady preserved and pulsating in a jar, and other strange and memorable exhibits.

Brooks representatives will offer free gait analyses to determine the appropriate shoe for every runner and walker. Every participant will get a free prize, and will have a chance to win a trip for two to any event in the Rock ’n’ Roll Marathon series.

Food and beverages — including free popcorn, cotton candy and snow cones — will be available. A group run and walk on the McDowell Creek Greenway (behind Birkdale Village) will conclude the festivities at 6 p.m.

Fleet Feet Sports is at 16620 Cranlyn Road in Huntersville’s Birkdale Village. For more information, go to www.fleetfeethuntersville.com, or call 704-896-2202.
