Charity Horse Show returns to Latta

With proceeds going to benefit the Cooks Memorial Presbyterian Church building fund, the 19th Annual Charlotte Charity Horse Show will be held at Latta Plantation Park Equestrian Center in Huntersville June 30-July 2. Past shows have provided funds for Habitat for Humanity, Crisis Assistance Ministry, mission projects and other area charities.

The Charlotte Charity Horse Show will feature more than 100 classes of American Saddle bred horses, Standardbreds and Hackney ponies with prize money offered during the night performances. In addition, the show will include an Equitation and Academy rider division, along with several fun classes such as Stick Horse, Ride-A-Buck, Costume and Lead Line. Other special exhibitions are scheduled for the show.

Spectators are welcome to the show and to view the competition with more than 200 horses and riders representing five Southeastern states. Admission is free and Performances begin each night at 6 p.m. and with a Saturday morning session beginning at 9. Each session will last about three hours. Concessions will be available.

The Latta Plantation Equestrian Center is located at Historic Latta Plantation on Sample Road off Beatties Ford Road. The equestrian facility features a 280-foot by 140-foot outdoor ring with ample warm-up rings and permanent stabling. The park also offers 10 miles of riding trails (trail horses are welcome). Rental horses are available for a fee.
