HPD investigating two armed robberies

Written by

Huntersville police are searching for suspects in two armed robberies that took place within 24 hours of each other this past weekend.

On Saturday, June 18, at approximately 2 a.m., officers responded to a reported armed robbery at Babe Stilwell Farm Road and N.C. 73. Upon arrival at scene, victims told officers that the suspect had a silver hand gun and demanded money from them. The suspect was with four other people, and was described as a black male, approximately 20 years old, wearing a green shirt with diamond design. The victims believed his name to be Terrell, but they were uncertain. The suspect is believed to live in the Smithville Community of Cornelius. Police are still working to confirm how much money was stolen during the robbery.

Less than 12 hours later, at about 11:40 a.m. on Sunday, June 19, Huntersville police were called to an armed robbery at Radio Shack at Northcross Commons shopping center. The suspect is a black male, five-feet, 10-inches tall and weighing about 175 pounds. He was wearing black pants, black shirt and white tennis shoes with a gray baseball cap. During the robbery, the suspect used a black semi-automatic handgun to force one of the employees into the bathroom, while forcing another employee to open the register and empty the drawer. The suspect then fled the store, possibly in a small, tan pick-up truck and headed west on N.C. 73.

Anyone with information concerning these crimes, or anyone requesting more information, should contact Capt. Michael Kee at 704-464-5400.
