Mr. Turner, 71, of Cornelius died Saturday, June 4, at Presbyterian Hospital Huntersville. He was born Aug. 30, 1939, in Cleveland County to the late Deocer and Vergie Turner. He was very active in girls fast pitch softball, an ardent supporter of Lake Norman High School and Hopewell High School softball programs, among others, and along with his wife, Nancy, was awarded the NSA Super FanAward.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by son, Mike and wife, Maryanne, of Troutman; daughter, Sharon Bailey and husband, Rick, of Mt. Mourne; three grandchildren; and three great grandchildren. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his sister, Pearl Wall.

A funeral service was held Wednesday, June 8, in the Chapel of Raymer-Kepner Funeral Home. Burial followed at Mt. Zion Community Cemetery. Raymer-Kepner Funeral Home of Huntersville is serving the family.

 

Maggie R. Reid

Mrs. Reid, 86, formerly of Cornelius died Sunday, June 5, at the Tucker Hospice House in Kannapolis. She was born May 30, 1925, in Ashe County to the late Ocy and Wiley Riddle.

She is survived by children, Gail Fields and husband, Danny, of Mooresville, Tommy Reid of China Grove, Billy Reid of Catawba; eight grandchildren; and 14 great grandchildren. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Haywood; daughter, Ann Wilson; son-in-law,Rodney Wilson; two brothers; and five sisters.

A graveside service was held Wednesday, June 8, at Mt. Zion Community Cemetery with the Rev. James Hunt officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice & Palliative Care of Cabarrus County, 5003 Hospice Lane, Kannapolis, NC 28081. Raymer-Kepner Funeral Home ofHuntersville is serving the family.

 

Mark Daidone III

Mr. Daidone, 54, of Cornelius died Saturday, June 11, at his home in Cornelius in the presence of his wife and sons. He was born on May 24, 1957, in Birmingham, Ala. He was a member of Denver Bassmasters. At the recent FLW Southern Open Bass Tournament on Lake Norman, he finished 32nd out of more than 200 as a co-angler.

He is survived by his wife of 31 years, Lisa; and sons, Alex, 23, of Charlotte, and John, 20, of Cornelius. The family would like to thank the many people in the medical profession who helped keep Mark well and happy since he was diagnosed with cancer in 2006.

A funeral mass will was held Wednesday, June 15, at St. Therese Catholic Church in Mooresville with Fr. Donald Ward officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Levine Cancer Institute by visiting www.givecarolinas.org, clicking on “Donate Now” then on “Cancer.” In the “Comments” box specify the work of Dr. Steven Limentani in the name of Mark Daidone. Samuel S. James, FSL of Huntersville is serving the family.
