Old books go to new homes

Written by

The Wynfield Forest Subdivision in Huntersville hosted its second children’s book swap on Sunday, June 5. More than 1,000 books were donated and swapped by nearly 50 children who lined up by 1:45 p.m. waiting for the doors to open. Within minutes the chapter books and series books were snapped up and the tables left bare.

With the help of many volunteers, the event went smoothly. Books that were not selected were sent to Barium Springs Home for Children near Statesville, the Boys and Girls Clubs, Angels and Sparrows Soup Kitchen in Huntersville and the new Ronald McDonald House in Charlotte. Plans are already under way for next year’s book swap, which will be held on approximately the same date. Potential book donors are asked to start setting books aside.
