Correction to 'Sellers not impervious to watershed rules' article published February, 3 2012

Written by

In this week's issue, a story about a Birkdale home owner's effort to acquire impervious surface rights in the Mountain Island Watershed protection area contained some inaccurate information.

The home owner wished to acquire those rights from the property owners outside the subdivision, which is permitted by state statute, but has not been allowed by the Town of Huntersville.

At this time, Huntersville DOES NOT permit home owners to seek impervious surface rights for overbuilt properties outside the subdivision of the home that is in violation of the watershed restrictions of overall impervious space on any single lot. The matter, however, may be considered by the Huntersville Town Board at a future date.
