Citizen names Eberle to new strategic post

Written by  Andrew Warfield

In its continuing effort to broaden its product offerings, the Lake Norman Citizen recently named John Eberle to the newly created position of Director of Strategic Business Development.

In his new position, Eberle will guide the Citizen’s parent company, Citizen Media Inc., in the development of new initiatives, such as a new Web site and The PULSE on Lake Norman business section. Along with serving as a marketing representative, he will head up the creation of additional new products to further serve consumers of Lake Norman-area news, goods and services.

“I am looking forward to helping the Lake Norman Citizen and Citizen Media Inc. make the jump to the next level of media in the region,” says Eberle. “I am excited to be a part of such a forward-thinking organization that is willing to break the mold of traditional local media as this industry continues to redefine itself.”

Eberle’s education and professional training includes being a bachelor’s in philosophy from Miami University, a Chartered Financial Analyst Charter holder (CFA) and a LEED AP Green Building Certification. He most recently served as publisher of Today Publications, which produces Cornelius Today and Business Today periodicals. Previously, he was president and
owner of Eberle Consulting, a business intelligence, market and financial analysis firm; and previous to that, senior product manager — wireless and data of Windstream Communications.

“We are thrilled to have on board someone of John’s diverse expertise not only in marketing, but also in technology and business analysis,” says Citizen Publisher Kim Clark. “We feel John will play a key role in the success of the Citizen, as well as our other companies, going forward. It’s a new world in our industry, and we need to be willing and able to quickly adapt to changing market demands and to position ourselves to take advantage of new trends in the delivery of news and information to our consumers.”

Eberle is a former member of the North Carolina Society of Financial Analysts, is past chairman of the board of the Broadband Marketing Media Association, served as United Way Corporate Chairman for CT Communications.
