‘Think Pink’ dog show Saturday in Davidson

Written by

When it comes to a challenge, Ally Miller is ready. Three years ago, she came up with an idea to hold a fundraiser to help her friend’s mother, who was in treatment for breast cancer.

A student at Davidson IB Middle School at the time, she decided to hold a Susan G. Komen event on her own and the Think Pink Dog Show was born. Now in its third year, the Think Pink Dog Show will feature a Mutt Strutt Parade and performance by the Queen City Youth Ballet.

The event, hosted by Miller and classmate Christianna Brueggeman along with other friends with a panel of judges that includes Davidson Mayor John Woods, will be held on the Town Green Saturday, Oct. 22, from 1:45 to 4 p.m. The day includes contests, pet care education, games and more. Contests include Best Trick, Best Costume, Dog Most Like Their Owner and Best of Show.

All dogs and owners are asked to wear pink. On-site registration costs $10 for first dog entered, $5 for “siblings.” Proceeds benefit the Susan G. Komen Foundation.

Event sponsors include Red Mango, Carolina Springs Auto Spa, trophy sponsor Apartment Arrangements, Carolina Springs Auto Spa and LakeCross Veterinary Hospital, with door prizes and pet gifts provided by PETCO.
