Written by

A ceremony to honor those lost in the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks will be held at Meadowlake Church in Huntersville on the 10-year anniversary of the event.

The church, at 6501 Gilead Road, will host a 9/11 Prayer Walk to remember the firefighters, police officers, port authority officers and other emergency response personnel and civilians who were 9/11 victims.

The program will also salute local firemen, police and emergency service professionals.

Activities will begin at 9:30 a.m. at the church with local first responders and emergency equipment on the grounds. A worship service focusing on remembering, honoring and serving will be held at 10:30 a.m., and the prayer walk will begin at 11:30 a.m.

The walk will cover a 1.5 mile-course from the church to the Huntersville Fire Department headquarters. Proceeds from the event, generated by T-shirt sales and donations, will be distributed to The Firefighters Burned Children Fund and Victory Junction Gang Camp’s Burned Children Week.
