Biggest Loser-Huntersville II: A sequel without the fanfare

Written by  Lee Sullivan

Following the pattern of the reality show genre, the success of — and growing interest in — The Biggest Loser-Huntersville program has spawned a spinoff.

Huntersville Family Fitness & Aquatics Center has announced plans to launch TBL-H II starting Monday, March, 5. Applications for the second round of the program are now available at HFFA on Verhoeff Drive, the Lake Norman Citizen office on Gilead Road in Huntersville, and at www.laakenormancitizen.com.

HFFA officials plan to select 10 candidates to participate in the weight loss challenge program supervised by HFFA staff members. The six weeks of training will not require participants to be in the public eye like the current program, but HFFA representatives did say the current TBL-H team has inspired many people. Officials at HFFA did not want to wait any longer to give another group of interested individuals the opportunity to jump on the losing band wagon and are working on plans to start a new program every six weeks.

"Our team is committed to improving the health and wellness of as many people as we possibly can," says HFFA Executive Director Dee Jetton.

TBL-H II participants will be trained by Derek Gibson, HFFA's fitness director. "I am confident The Biggest Loser II group will follow in the footsteps of success that Emily Joy and the local stars of the current BLH group have enjoyed," Gibson says. "I can't wait to get started with this newest group of selected candidates."
