Mrs. Slahor, 89, of Cornelius died Wednesday, Feb. 1. She was born Nov. 11, 1922, in Newark, N.J.

 

She is survived by her daughter, Karen Snyder and husband, Tom, of Cornelius; sons, Jeffrey Slahor of Morgantown,

W. Va., and Robert Slahor of Kenilworth, N.J., 10 grandchildren; and four great-grand children.

A memorial service will be held at a later date.

Nancy Culbreth Lancaster

Mrs. Lancaster, 75, of Huntersville, died Friday, Feb., 3, at Carolinas Medical Center. She was born June 12, 1936, in Spindale to the late Ben Culbreth and Ruth Gillespie. She worked as a reservation agent for Eastern Airlines for 25 years. She was a member of Union Grove Baptist Church, as well as a member of the New Hearts Club.

She is survived by her husband, Robert, of Huntersville; son, Melvin Lancaster of Lilburn, Ga.; daughters, Rhyta Lancaster of Kannapolis, and Kelly Hall of Cleveland; and six grandchildren.

A funeral service was held Tuesday, Feb. 7, at Union Grove Baptist Church with the Rev. Robert Wallace officiating. Interment followed at Rutherford County Memorial Cemetery. Memorials may be made to The Cardiovascular Foundation, Carolinas HealthCare System, 1001 Blythe Boulevard, Suite 300, Charlotte, NC 28203. Samuel S. James Funeral Service of Huntersville is serving the family.

Philip B. Gray

Mr. Gray, 86, of Huntersville died Wednesday, Feb. 8. He was born Oct. 24, 1925, in Camden, N.J., to the late Philip and Elizabeth Gray. He was a Navy veteran of World War II and Korean War, serving on the USS Livermore. He was a member of the Tin Can Sailors Club.

He is survived by his daughter, Dolores Nasife and husband, Samuel; sister, Doris Kerr; three grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Sadie.

Inglesby and Sons Funeral Home in Pennsauken, N.J., assisted the family with funeral arrangements. Burial was in Calvary Cemetery in Cherry Hill, N.J. Trina Duree Jones Hunter

Mrs. Hunter, 50, of Huntersville died Thursday, Feb. 9, at Levine & Dickson Hospice House. She was born Oct. 4, 1961, in Charlotte to Mary House Jones and the late Murle Jones. She was a state licensed and nationally certified interpreter for the deaf, and worked for Central Piedmont Community College.

In addition to her mother, she is survived her husband, Jerry; children, Serenity and Evan; sisters, Denise Harton and husband, David, of Harrisburg, Teresa Lougee and husband, Brent, of Richmond, Va., Cindy Hammer and husband, Howard, of Belmont, and Torrie Thompson and husband, James, of Cornelius.

A celebration of her life was held Saturday, Feb. 11, in the Chapel of Raymer-Kepner Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers memorials may be in her memory to Buddy Kemp Cancer Support Center, 242 South Colonial Avenue, Charlotte, NC 28207. Raymer-Kepner Funeral Home of Huntersville is serving the family.

Timothy Baxter

Mr. Baxter, 69 of Huntersville died Thursday, Feb. 9, at his home. He was born May 24, 1942, in The Bronx, N.Y. to Dorothea Baxter and the late Walter Baxter.

In addition to his mother, he is survived by his wife, Gail; daughters, Debra Brescia of Cornelius, Donna Yacopino of Waxhaw, Dianna Elkenbaum of Seattle Wash., and Rebecca Baxter and Claudia Baxter of Huntersville; sisters, Bridget Powell, Nora Ehrling and Eileen Toro; and nine grandchildren.

Funeral arrangements were incomplete. Raymer-Kepner Funeral Home of Huntersville is serving the family.

Rosemary J. Albrecht

Mrs. Albrecht, 76, of Huntersville died Friday, Feb. 10, at Presbyterian Hospital in Charlotte due to heart and stroke complications. She was born Jan. 10, 1936, in New Brunswick, N.J. to the late John and Helen. Before her health failed, she served as a volunteer at Presbyterian Hospital Huntersville, and performed in many musical shows at local churches.

She is survived by her husband of 39 years, Charles; brother Dennis Gurgul and wife, Carmella, of Boston; and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews. The family would like to thank the emergency room and critical care unit staff at Presbyterian Hospital for service and care given her.

A funeral was held Tuesday, Feb. 14, at the Califon United Methodist Church in Califon, N.J. Burial was at the Lower Valley Cemetery in Califon. Memorials may be made to a charity of choice. Raymer-Kepner Funeral Home of Huntersville and Coughlin Funeral Home of Califon, N.J., are serving the family.

Evelyn Ashe Smith

Mrs, Smith, 73, of Murrells Inlet, S.C., formerly of Charlotte, died Friday, Feb. 10, at the Hospice House in Georgetown S.C. He was born Nov. 16, 1938, in Jackson County to the late Frank and Martha Ashe.

She is survived by her sons, Wade Smith and wife, Donna, of Huntersville, David Ashe and wife, Donna, of Midland, Douglas Ashe and wife, Sherri, of Pawley's Island, S.C., Jackie Smith of Salisbury, and Jay Smith of Charlotte; daughter, Scarlett Daugherty of Mount Holly; brother, James Ashe of Louisiana; 13 grandchildren; and 10 great grandchildren. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, the Rev. Jack Smith; and son, James Smith.

A celebration of her life was held Tuesday, Feb. 14, in the Chapel of Raymer-Kepner Funeral Home with the Rev. Grace Conti and the Rev. Walter Burgess officiating. A graveside service followed in the N.C. State Veterans Cemetery in Black Mountain. Raymer-Kepner Funeral Home of Huntersville is serving the family.

Ida Bradford Cantrell

Mrs. Cantrell, 82, of Huntersville died Thursday, Feb. 9, at her home in Manassas, Va. She was born March 29, 1929, in Huntersville to the late Cecil and Loma Bradford.

She is survived by sons, DeWitte Baisch and wife, Debbie, of Jacksonville, Fla., and Bruce Baisch and wife, Cindy, of Stafford, Va.; six grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Morris Cantrell.

A graveside service will be held Saturday, Feb. 25, at 2 p.m. at Ramah Presbyterian Church Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Ida B. Cantrell Memorial Fund Honoring DeWitte A Baisch of the North Florida Chapter of the National Multiple Sclerosis Society. Raymer-Kepner Funeral Home of Huntersville is serving the family.
