We’ve moved

Written by

Mecklenburg County’s historic courthouse in Charlotte is undergoing the kind of up-fitting you’d expect in a large structure built in 1928.

That work has meant temporarily relocating the offices of Mecklenburg County’s district attorney, Andrew Murray (who calls Huntersville home). As a Republican, Murray can be expected to lean rightward — a tilt that typically embraces frugality. But how far does fiscal responsibility go?

Talkers visiting the DA’s Web site this week noted this item, cut and pasted verbatim here:

“The District Attorney’s Office is located in the historic Mecklenburg County Courthouse. There are no courtrooms in our building. The District Attorney’s Office has been temporarily relocated to another building while the historic courthouse building is under renovation.”

And, later on the same page, under the “Address” heading: “700 East Trade Street.”

Yes, the Web site included the crossed-out words. To be honest, Talkers aren’t quite sure what message that sends. What is clear, though, is that when the courthouse’s renovations are complete, the DA’s Web site won’t need much editing.

Talkers wonder, though. Will the changes look something like this?

The District Attorney’s Office has been temporarily re-located to another building while the historic courthouse building is under renovation.
