Gilroy doesn't represent me

The writer is principal of Gandy Communities and would-be developer of Eastfield Station off the Red Line Regional Rail, just across the Huntersville town limit in north Charlotte.

Editor,

Dave Gilroy is out of touch with his constituency ("Cato consultant the right tool for rail opponents," the Citizen, Feb. 3) . Twice in a dozen years the citizens of Cornelius have voted overwhelmingly to fund a commuter rail line by approving a sales tax. As a property owner along the proposed Red Line and a citizen of Cornelius, I do not appreciate Mr. Gilroy's attempt to derail the long-awaited commuter train to Charlotte.

Furthermore, I am very displeased with Mr. Gilroy's use of taxpayer money to pay Randal O'Toole, an old anti-rail gadfly, to come to town to pontificate against the Red Line Regional Rail project.

Mr. Gilroy would do well, both for himself and the citizens who elected him, to stand down and listen to what the people have to say.

— Phil Gandy, Cornelius
