Davidson Fire Chief Bo Fitzgerald (right), Mayor John Woods (left), and the Town Board honored fire fighter Wilson Sadler at the April 11 Davidson Town Board meeting. Sadler served with the Davidson Fire Department for 45 years, and the board adopted a retirement resolution officially thanking him for his service to the department and the town. During his tenure with the department Sadler served at nearly every rank, including fire chief from 1997-2002. “As the scope of fire service expanded ... and the number of volunteer fire fighters began to wane, Wilson carried the department on his shoulders,” Fitzgerald said.
In addition to his contributions Sadler also served as lead contact for the North Mecklenburg Christmas Parade since its inception, and has contributed numerous hours to the Davidson Police Department’s Angel Tree program, benefitting children in need around the holidays. In retirement, Sadler still holds a number of non-operational volunteer roles with the department.
