Cornelius students Robert and Kira Anderson became the first two youths to earn new bikes through the new Earn-A-Bike Program offered at the Neighborhood C.A.R.E. Center’s GearUp Bike Shop. Robert and Kira completed the necessary mechanical and community service hours to earn the bike of their choice. The GearUp Bike Shop is open to any students ages 10-17 who want to learn mechanical skills to earn a bike for themselves or a family member. The GearUp Bike Shop is open Tuesdays and Thursdays, 4:30-6:30 p.m.; and Saturdays, 10 a.m.-noon. The Neighborhood C.A.R.E. Center is at 19711 Smith Circle. The C.A.R.E. center is a program of Grace Covenant Church. For more information, call 704-255-5500.
