A common scene this time of year, this large spider has taken up residence just outside the Lake Norman Citizen compound on Gilead Road in Huntersville. This common garden spider is among the largest web-building spiders found in North Carolina, usually building webs in open areas near human habitations. They are at their peak in the early fall, so expect to see them hanging around for awhile.
