Christina Eicher

Written by

Christina Eicher of Huntersville likes to run. She especially likes to run on trails. In fact, this past Saturday, she ran 40 miles on a trail, and in the process was the first woman finisher at the Triple Lakes Trail Race, a 40-mile ultra-marathon near Greensboro. The UNC Charlotte student and Fleet Feet Sports employee keeps pleanty busy, but we figured this was the week she’d slow down long enough to make her our Fellow Citizen.

What is your current state of mind?

Peaceful. Happy. Relieved that I made it across the finish line. Now that that goal is completed, I can start making babies with my awesome husband.

What qualities do you value in a friend?

Honesty and support. One of my best friends, Tammy Cowden, was there the day I crossed the finish line for my first and only marathon, and she was there on Saturday when I finished the 40.

What do you regret about your youth?

Regrets are a waste of time. Plus, I don’t have time to write a book here.

Which talent would you like most to have?

The ability to run when I’m 70 up and down trails (like one of the guys who finished on Saturday) or to run a marathon when I’m 100.

What is your favorite place?

My bed, especially right now.

What would you do if you hit the lottery?

Give it all away. Money makes people crazy.

On what occasion do you lie?

I made my body believe it could run 40 miles and everything would be fine. In my book, that’s an expert liar. And there are consequences for lying and wouldn’t you know, my legs haven’t worked for days after. They’re mad at me for lying to them.

What do you consider your greatest achievement?

Accepting Jesus Christ as my Lord and Savior and surrendering my life to Him.

What is your best quality?

I never quit, which gets me into trouble sometimes (especially with my hubby), but most of the time it’s a good quality.

If you could change one thing about yourself, what would it be?

I would be taller. My husband is a giant compared to me and sometimes I wonder what the air quality is like way up there.

What is your guiltiest pleasure?

NUTELLA. Holy moly, Nutella could be put on a pickle and it would still be good.

What would you rather be doing right now?

Sitting in a hot tub.
