Realtors Care Day at Cornelius homes

Written by

Several local real estate professionals joined forces last week with their counterparts across the region to participate in the fourth annual Realtors Care Day, an initiative of the Charlotte Regional Realtor Association’s Housing Opportunity Foundation.

The event was an all-day home repair project that involved more than 20 homes throughout Mecklenburg and Iredell counties. The focus of the project each year is to help a diverse group of homeowners with critical, but often unaffordable, exterior home repairs, as well as to provide adaptive and safety modifications.

Some of the work includes replacing or repairing roofs and gutters, window replacement, painting and a host of other exterior home maintenance and rehab projects for homeowners who include the elderly, veterans and the disabled.

The project has spurred national attention, including recognition from the National Association of Realtors, and has helped improve living conditions for 87 families.

Locally, several Allen Tate agents converged on two homes in Cornelius’ Smithville community, providing some much-needed assistance to homeowners and neighbors Annie Gaston and Armetta Cathcart on South Hill Street.
