Energy company brings HQ here

Lime Energy Company will expand its presence in Kenton Place in Huntersville and will move its headquarters here from Chicago, the company recently announced. By October, the “clean energy” business expects to complete the move and, over the next two years, add 50 to 75 employees. The announcement was made at a Charlotte Chamber of Commerce Advisory Board meeting this past Monday.

Among its primary customers are governments, utilities and owners of buildings who utilize its range of energy efficiency and renewable energy services. The company, which reported a second-quarter net loss of $3.5 million but a 39 percent increase in revenue at $23.4 million compared to $17.5 million in the second quarter of 2010, has offices in 13 states and employs about 400 nationwide, including 100 in North Carolina.

The company also has 22 offices in Arizona, California, Colorado, Hawaii, Illinois, Massachusetts, New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, Texas, Utah and Washington. It is traded publicly on the NASDAQ exchange under the name LIME.
