Business (giving) is looking up

Written by

Executives with Ingersoll Rand in Davidson, the company's North American headquarters, presented the United Way of Central Carolinas with a whopping $831,622.14 check late last week. It was the culmination of a months-long campaign that bested last year's results by 86 percent.

From June through October, several Ingersoll Rand employees volunteered their time for a variety of fund-raising activities that included a fishing derby, online auction, an employee pledge campaign and golf tournament. Employees were also given a half-day off during one week in September to participate in one of the "Seven Days of Caring" events in support of local nonprofit agencies, including the Ada Jenkins Center, Second Harvest Food Bank, Crisis Assistance Ministry and Habitat for Humanity. Nearly 190 employees logged more than 760 volunteer hours as well as an $11,000 grant from the Ingersoll Rand Foundation.

Ingersoll Rand is one of the United Way's top 10 corporate donors and is the largest contributor in the Lake Norman area.
