Harvey’s continues record of largesse

Written by

Harvey’s Bar & Grill is tucked away near the village green at the center of the Vermillion neighborhood in Huntersville, but the restaurant is reaching out to serve the entire Lake Norman community.

The neighborhood gathering spot and watering hole has become a big player in a variety of service projects and programs. This fall, Harvey’s is donating game day dinners every Thursday to all 70 players on the Hough High School junior varsity football team. It is just the latest on a growing list of community service activities for the business.

This summer, Harvey’s sponsored two children in the Mecklenburg County “Cops & Kids” program, which is designed to enhance community policing efforts and public safety by improving police interaction with young people.

Harvey’s also provided money for a participant in the Belmont Abbey College volleyball teams mission trip to Nicaragua; sponsored and donated dinner for the Lake Norman Kiwanis Club golf fundraiser to help support kids in the north Charlotte area; and is continuing to sponsor the LKN Gryphons baseball team and a local kickball league.

Harvey’s is also gearing up to host and support an event later this month to benefit the Cystic Fibrosis and the United Way. “Serving the community that supports us is an honor,” says Charlie Dyer, one of Harvey’s owners. “Giving back is Harvey’s way of saying ‘thank you’ to the Lake Norman area.”
